(1) (1754) Spanish botanist Hipólito Ruiz López was born. He traveled through Peru and Chile for ten years, collecting specimens and making medical remedies from plants.

(2) (1921) Indian medical scientist Vulimiri Ramalingaswami is born. He has published multiple studies on vitamin A and problems associated with its deficiencies.

(3) (1941) American physician George Tiller is born. He was the medical director of the Women’s Health Care Services, a clinic that focused on safe-sex practises and provided late-term abortions.
