(1894) French novelist and physician Louis-Ferdinand Celine is born. He was a physician who worked in a maternity ward and also wrote about the conditions of workers on an assembly line.

(1907) American marine biologist Rachel Carson is born. She wrote many book on all life present in oceans, from the deep seafloor to the shores.
