(1) (1709) Swedish chemist and mineralogist Johan Gottschalk Wallerius is born. He is known as the founder of agricultural chemistry, a branch of science that studies the chemical products used in agriculture.

(2) (1943) American developmental psychologist Howard Gardner is born. He is best known for his theory of multiple intelligences, which breaks down intelligence into multiple modalities rather than treating intelligence as a single general ability.

(3) (1955) Singaporean politician and neurosurgeon Balaji Sadasivan is born. As a consultant neurosurgeon at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital, he reorganized the way stroke patients were treated.
