August 15:

(1) (1896) Czech-American biochemist Gerty Theresa Cori is born. She focused her research on sugar metabolism and shared the 1947  Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

(2) (1933) first professor of child psychiatry in the UK, Michael Rutter, is born. Known as ‘the father of child psychiatry’, he focused his research on autism and child-parent relationships.

(3) (1958) The professor of developmental psychopathology at the University of Cambridge in the UK, Simon Baron-Cohen, is born. His research focuses on autism and Asperger syndrome.
