Rumour: The RAS protein is responsible for cell proliferation and is often overexpressed in cancers.

Truth: This is true.

RAS GTPases are a group of proteins responsible for cell proliferation, often mutated in cancers, causing uncontrolled growth of a tumour. Researchers are now targeting RAS GTPases with monobody technology in hopes of treating cancer. Read more about this new technique to treat cancer here.
