Rumour: Weight loss has no impact on organ size or mass
Truth: This is false. As reported in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, a few internal organs, including the spleens and kidneys, decreased in mass following weight loss in a sample of type 2 diabetes men. Importantly, researchers noted that there was no evidence of a disproportionate loss of organs that have a higher metabolic rate. Read more about the impact of weight loss on organ size here.
