The Unhealthy Diet Rumour

Rumour: Children who often eat unhealthy foods are not getting the daily recommended amount of healthy foods.

Truth: This is false.

Although it seems plausible to believe that children who eat unhealthy snacks are often not eating the recommended amount of healthy snacks, that is not the case. Children’s frequency of consumption for unhealthy foods is, to a large extent, unrelated to how often they consume healthy foods. Read more about diet patterns in children here.
