(1) (1924) English clinician and medical historian Christopher Booth was born. He is known for inventing the telephoto lens and for his work on vitamin B12, for which he discovered that it is absorbed at the far end of the small intestine.
(2) (1940) British sociologist and psychologist Joan Busfield is born. Her research currently focuses on psychiatry, mental health, and gender differences.
(3) (1955) Professor of Bioinformatics at UCL Christine Orengo is born. She is known for her work in protein structure.
