(1903) German Biochemist Adolf Butenandt is born. He won the 1939 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his research on sex hormones.

(1917) English biochemist John Kendrew is born. He shared the 1962 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for determining the structures of proteins like myoglobin using X-ray crystallography.

(1927) American biochemist and academic John Woodland Hastings is born. He is known for his research in bioluminescence and circadian rhythms.
