(1) (1791) French physicist Félix Savart is born. His research focused on acoustics and invented the Savart’s wheel, a device he used while investigating the range of human hearing.
(2) (1817) British botanist and explorer Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker is born. He visited many areas around the world, like the Himalayas, to collect plants.
(3) (1926) American biochemist Paul Berg is born. He shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1980 for his work on recombinant DNA.
