(1) (1821) Medical doctor and politician Guillermo Rawson was born. As a doctor, he was interested in medicine and hygiene.

(2) (1852) German bacteriologist Friedrich Loeffler was born. He is known for discovering several bacteria that cause diseases like diphtheria and foot-and-mouth disease. 

(3) (1911) Argentine writer, painter, and physicist Ernesto Sabato was born. As a physicist, he studied radiation at the Curie Institute in Paris.
