July 29:

(1) (1891) German-born Israeli gynecologist Bernhard Zondek is born. He developed the first reliable pregnancy test in 1928.

(2) (1898) American physicist Isidor Isaac Rabi is born. He won the Nobel Prize in 1944 for his discovery of nuclear magnetic resonance, which is used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

(3) (1962)  English statistician, and biologist Ronald Fisher passes away. He is known for developing the analysis of variance (ANOVA), which is used in clinical trials to compare the means of more than two samples.
