(1921) American psychiatrist Aaron T. beck is born. He developed self-report measures of depression and anxiety, including the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI).
(1948) German biochemist Hartmut Michel is born. He is known for his work with protein crystallography, which is a process used to determine a protein’s structure.
(1990) American psychiatrist Karl Menninger passes away. Along with helping to find the  Menninger Foundation and Menninger Clinic, he wrote many books on mental health.
