(1727) French botanist and naturalist Michel Adanson is born. During a 5-year expedition to Senegal, he collected and described numerous animals and plants.

(1860) American industrialist Will Keith Kellogg is born. He is best known for founding the Kellogg Company, in order to market breakfast cereals and promote healthy diet.

(1953) British biochemist Douglas Kell is born. His research focuses on metabolomics, the study of metabolites.
