(1835) English neurologist John Hughlings Jackson was born. He is known for his research in epilepsy and being a co-founder of the Brain Journal.

(1910) Vietnamese doctor Đặng Văn Ngữ is born. He successfully developed a way to manufacture penicillin and researched ways to prevent and treat malaria.

(1969) The first temporary artificial heart was implanted by Dr. Cooley.
