(1) (1546) Danish astronomer and chemist Tycho Brahe is born. He created a number of recipes for herbal medicines to cure fever and the plague.  

(2) (1909)  American geneticist Edward Tatum is born. He shared the 1958 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for demonstrating that genes control specific steps in metabolism.

(3) (1943) American medical doctor John Kellogg passes away. Along with inventing Corn Flakes, he also is known for running a sanitarium and focused on advocating healthy diet, exercise and enemas.
