Rumour: Sugars should be a maximum of 15% percent of total consumed energy to avoid the risk of coronary heart disease.
Truth: This is true.
Although the U.S. Institute of Medicine says the energy in your diet obtained from sugar should be less than 25%, a study found that a diet containing more than 15% of energy from sugar will increase your risk of coronary heart disease.
