The Fruit Rumour

Rumour: Higher intakes of fruits will lower the risk of heart attacks and stroke.

Truth: This is true. Multiple studies have found that eating fruits that are high in flavonoids (red, blue and purple berries and citrus fruit like oranges and grapefruit) can lower the risk of nonfatal heart attacks and ischemic stroke in both men and women.
