The Stroke-Dementia Rumour

Rumour: Having a history of stroke will increase your risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

Truth: This is true. Following a study by Tosto et. al., it has been determined that there is a strong link between history of stroke and the development of late-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Other cardiovascular diseases have also been linked to the development of late-onset Alzheimer’s. Read more about the relationship between cardiovascular health and Alzheimer’s here.
