The Gut Barrier Rumour

Rumour: A leaky barrier for the GI tract is linked to the occurrence of metabolic disorders.

Truth: This is true. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that increased permeability of the GI tract, which occurs with obesity, is linked to the development of metabolic disorders like liver steatosis.
